LAMA SAYS:
A student comes to Lama and asks him with great concern.
Student: Lama, everything in the world is falling apart- our institutions are falling apart, our religions are falling apart, our governments, our schools, our communities, our families, our individuals, everything is falling apart. What to do?

Lama: [smiles at the student sympathetically.] I have some good news and some bad news.

Student: Can you give me the bad news first?

Lama: The bad news is that nothing can be done; everything is going to fall apart- our institutions, our religions, our governments, our schools, our communities, our families and the individuals.
Student: What’s the good news?

Lama: The good news is that everything is going to fall apart- our institutions, our religions, our governments, our schools, our communities, our families and the individuals.

Student: How can that be good news, everything falling apart!? Surely we must do something.

Lama: Nature hates an imbalance. It is the law of the universe. All things go to an extreme, come to an end, only to reverse again and go back to the middle. Do nothing, and everything will be done.
